RUG CARE BY FIBRE

Cotton Chenille

Cotton chenille is a delicate fibre, therefore it is not ideal to have these rugs in areas with high foot traffic. It is not recommended to have a cotton chenille rug in a spill zone such as a kitchen or dining room as the fibres are not stain-resistant.

Eco-friendly

Delicate Fibre

Low-Medium Traffic

Vacuum regularly without a vacuum brush. Any harsh bristles might destroy the soft fibres. When cleaning, test a small area in the corner first to confirm the colour of the cloth doesn’t transfer onto the rug.

Gently blot with water using a clean cloth or paper towel. If required, mix a small amount of mild detergent with water to make a diluted cleaning solution. Then use your clean cloth or paper towel to gently blot the area further. Do not apply any harsh cleaning solutions directly onto the rug. Avoid any rubbing actions, as this can rub the stain further into the fibres.

Best placed in indirect sunlight to help maintain its life and keep it fresh.

HEMP

Hemp area rugs offer several advantages that make them a popular choice among homeowners. They’re woven from hemp grass (also known as mountain grass) found in the highlands of China, which is both a renewable and pesticide-free fiber. Along with being eco-friendly, these natural-fibre rugs are affordable, stylish and easy to maintain.

We recommend regular vacuuming.
For any solid stains, scrape away as much debris as possible before blotting with water and a clean cloth. Vacuum afterwards.

For a deeper clean, on a dry day, you can take your rug outside. Mix a small amount of mild detergent with water to make a diluted cleaning solution, and use a soft scrubbing brush to clean the rug. Then thoroughly sponge the area with water to remove all traces of soap. Once complete, hang the rug outside until it is completely dry. Ensure that there is sufficient airflow whilst it is drying. Do not lay your rug back down if there is still dampness.

JUTE

Jute is a popular choice, being very eco-friendly and cost effective. Often hand-braided, this material gives an organic look and is easy to style. This material is moderately soft and is not as durable as some other materials such as PET or polypropylene. Jute is highly absorbent and not recommended for use in areas such as kitchens or bathrooms.

Eco-friendly

Never hose or drench your jute rug, and keep it away from high-moisture areas such as the bathroom or laundry.

If spillages occur, immediately use a clean cloth to blot the excess liquid away. Jute is highly absorbent, so it may be difficult to remove a stain if a spillage does happen.

MICROFIBRE POLYESTER

Microfibre polyester rugs use tiny strands of thread to create a plush feel and intricate detail. They’re often machine-woven and can mimic the look of wool rugs but with the added benefit of no shedding!

Regular, gentle vacuuming is important to reduce wearing of the rug from soil and grit. We also recommend a head with no brush/bristles to avoid damaging the rug.

PET

PET (polyethylene terephthalate) is an eco-friendly fibre made from recycled plastic bottles. It is silky soft to the touch and suitable for both indoor and outdoor use.

We advise they not be kept directly in the elements.

Do not lay your rug back down if there is still dampness.

PET fibres have a low affinity to water, which makes them water-repelling. Therefore our PET rugs are suitable to be used outdoors under covered areas. PET is not water resistant, and being left in the elements could cause damage to the rug.

POLYESTER

Polyester is a soft, durable, colourfast, non-shedding and easy-to-maintain fibre. Polyester yarn can be spun thinner (finer) than other synthetics like polypropylene which lends it shiny, silk-look properties.

POLYESTER WASHABLE

Our polyester washable rugs are a smart investment for your home. They are built to endure everyday life, and with the added convenience of being machine washable, if spills or accidents occur you can simply spot-clean by hand or machine wash them away.

Vacuum regularly without a vacuum brush, any harsh bristles might destroy the soft fibres.

Our polyester washable rug fibres have been engineered to be stain-resistant. This means that any stains, mess or liquids won’t absorb into the rug straightaway. If quick action is taken, you’ll be able to blot and soak up the spill with a clean cloth or paper towel. For a deeper clean, throw your rug into the washing machine, or give the area a thorough handwash and your rug will be as good as new!

Once you’ve washed your rug, shake it out to re-fluff the fibres, and hang it outside to drip dry in indirect sun. Do not tumble dry.

POLYPROPYLENE

Polypropylene is a man-made material that is engineered to have a wide variety of benefits. For example, it’s super soft - it feels like a mix of silk and wool which is delicious underfoot! It is also easy to vacuum and a great material for resisting wear and tear. In addition, the fibres are stain-resistant, so any spills won’t absorb right away and will lift straight off if quick action is taken. This makes polypropylene a practical choice for households with kids or pets.

POLYPROPYLENE/POLYESTER

Polypropylene/polyester blend rugs are durable and perfect for high-traffic areas. Not only do the fibres hold radiant colours exceptionally well, but the polyester in the weave also ensures that the rug doesn’t fade or dull quickly. Polyester is slightly more absorbent than polypropylene, so whilst stains and spills are still easy to clean, they aren’t quite as easy-care as 100% polypropylene rugs.

WOOL

Wool is a natural, renewable fibre that deters bacterial growth. The fibres contain lanolin which naturally repels light stains and dust mites. Wool rugs are warm underfoot, plush and work beautifully with any style of home interiors.

Shedding

Natural shedding can be expected and is normal. Vacuum regularly 1-3 times a week on a gentle and low setting, so that you’re not breaking or pulling at any of the wool fibres.

Avoid any rubbing actions, as this can rub the stain further into the fibres.

An underlay to go under your rug will extend its life by preventing a build up of dirt/dust underneath, ensuring it doesn’t penetrate the underside.

WOOL/POLYESTER

Wool/polyester blend rugs are ideal for people who long for wool rugs but without their luxury price tag. The two fibres are blended so that you still have the look and feel of a wool rug but with the added benefit of polyester. Due to the polyester, you can expect minimal shedding compared to a 100% wool fibre rug.

Wool/polyester rugs shed less than 100% wool rugs. However, natural shedding can still be expected and is normal. Vacuum regularly 1-3 times a week on a gentle and low setting, so that you’re not breaking or pulling at any of the fibres.
